Division L’s Kenn Arcenal bags 3rd prize in nat’l speech contest

DAVAO CITY — Kenn Arcenal CC ALB of Division L’s LDS Toastmasters Club (Area 94) won third place in the District 75 (Philippines) International Speech contest at the Apo View Hotel during the District Convention (Discon), April 29.

Entitled “The Luggage”, Kenn’s speech narrated a personal story on forgiveness and change. More than a dozen other Division L Toastmasters cheered him on, led by Division Director Daryl Zamora ACB ALB.

Neb Perez of Division K won first place and will represent the Philippines in the international level during the Toastmasters International Convention in Chicago this August. Fr. Casiano Anthony Cotiamco of Division C followed as second place winner.

In the Table Topics (impromptu speech) category, Division L’s Paul Dennis Tangangco ACB CL (LANDBANK Toastmasters Club) competed with other national finalists.

Area 94, Area 95 dominate Division L speech contests

MALATE, MANILA — Area 94’s Kenn Arcenal and Area 95’s Paul Dennis Tangangco emerged as champions of the Division L International Speech and Table Topics speech contests, respectively, at LANDBANK Plaza, March 10.

Both will represent the Division in the District-level contests during the annual District Convention (DisCon) in Davao City, April 26-29.

Area 93’s Justine Go was 1st runner-up in both categories. Area 92’s Rojan Mercader followed as 2nd runner-up in the Table Topics speech contest.

According to Chief Judge and Club Growth Director Ann Danga DTM, the contests had no disqualifications due to overtime/undertime. She noted that all contestants did an excellent job.

Division L Director Daryl Zamora ACB ALB thanked everyone who attended the contest, including some past and current district officers, club officers, contestants’ supporters, and students from UP Manila. He also thanked LANDBANK for providing the Division with a contest venue.

Division L selects reps to nat’l speech contests

MALATE, MANILA — Contestants from Area 92 and Area 95 won in the Division L speech contests at LANDBANK Plaza, September 9.

Kenley Liong ACB of Maharlika Toastmasters Club (Area 92) attained the championship in the Humorous Speech contest, with Fred Baldo ACB of Governors and Friends Toastmasters Club (Area 94) as first runner-up.

On the other hand, Bruno Tangangco CC CL of LANDBANK Toastmasters Club (Area 95) was declared champion in the Evaluation Speech contest, followed by Amir Acosta CC CL of Maharlika Toastmasters Club as first runner-up.

Kenley and Bruno will vie for the District (national) Championship in their respective contests during the Midyear Convention (Midcon) in Bacolod City, October 13-15.

Other speech contestants were Diana Agbayani ACG of UP Manila Toastmasters Club and Jay Macasieb ACB of LDS Toastmasters Club.

More than 70 Toastmasters and guests attended the contest.

Division L Areas conduct speech contests

Division L’s Area 91, 92, 94, and 95 conducted their joint speech contests, August 12, at LDS in Sampaloc, Manila, while Area 93 held theirs, August 5, at UECP in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The contests selected area representatives to the Division-level contest on September 9.
